The Capital Critic Payout Index

Prop firm payout statistics

Every figure here comes from payouts we watched settle on the public blockchain — not from firms’ own marketing. The Payout Index, weekly and monthly totals, what a typical payout is actually worth, and which firms are paying at all.

What is the Capital Critic Payout Index?

The Capital Critic Payout Index is a single 0-to-100 reading of whether the prop firms we track are paying more or less than they normally do. It averages three equally weighted components measured against this dataset’s own history — volume, momentum, and breadth, the share of firms beating their own four-week average. It is not a sentiment gauge: every input is money that has already settled on a public blockchain, so the reading moves when cash moves rather than when opinion does. A reading below 40 means the week was quiet for this industry by its own standards; above 60 means it was busy. The week of September 21, 2026 reads 65 — Strong.

Measured over 115 scoreable weeks, beginning July 15, 2024.

How the index is calculated

Three components, equally weighted, each measured against this dataset’s own history rather than against a fixed benchmark:

  • Volume— the week’s total divided by its own trailing 13-week mean, ranked against every earlier week’s version of that same ratio.
  • Momentum — the same ratio against the trailing 4 weeks, ranked the same way.
  • Breadth— the share of paying firms that beat their own 4-week average. This is what separates “the industry slowed” from “one large firm had a quiet week”.

Each component is a ratio to a recent trend, not a raw level, because weekly volume has grown every year we have tracked it — ranking raw totals against history would pin the index near 100 permanently and tell you nothing. Only complete weeks are scored, and a week is only scored once six months of history exists behind it. Formula version 1; if the method changes it becomes a new version and this series is preserved.

How much do prop firms pay out each week?

Prop firms tracked by Capital Critic have settled $1.5B on-chain across 154 complete weeks. Weekly volume has risen in every year we have tracked it, and the chart below shows every one of those weeks with a four-week average drawn over the top — weekly settlement is spiky enough that any single week reads as a trend if you let it. Use the average line for direction and the bars for what actually happened. The current week is excluded throughout: a partial week beside full ones reads as a collapse.

What is a typical prop firm payout worth?

A typical prop firm payout is best described by the median — the amount a trader in the exact middle of the distribution received — which over the last 30 days is $1,171. The average is the number most sites quote and it is the least useful one: a single $7,583 payout drags it above what almost everybody actually receives. Both are shown below so the gap between them is visible rather than hidden. The thresholds either side matter too — one payout in ten exceeds $2,700, and one in a hundred exceeds $7,583.

Are prop firm payouts speeding up or slowing down?

Payout velocity is the last seven days measured against the preceding month’s weekly run rate — a simple ratio that says which way the payout economy is moving right now, where a total only says how big it is. It is stated as a comparison rather than a projection on purpose: this dataset records what has settled and has no business forecasting what will. Read it alongside the Payout Index above, which asks the same question against a longer history and adds how many firms are moving rather than just how much money.

Funded accounts paid

28,529 distinct funded accounts received 63,256 payouts in the last 30 days — an average of 2.22 payouts per account, measured over 100% of the window’s payouts.

This counts accounts, not people. An account belongs to one firm, so a trader funded at two firms is counted once at each. Recorded from September 3, 2026 onward.

Which prop firms actually pay out the money?

Payout concentration is how unevenly the total is split across the firms producing it, and in this industry it is severe: a handful of firms account for most of every verified dollar. The breakdown below covers the last 30 days, with the Herfindahl–Hirschman index — the standard measure competition regulators use — stated alongside it. This matters for reading every other figure on the page: a headline total that leans on three firms moves when one of them has a quiet week, which is exactly what the index’s breadth component exists to separate out.

69.1%Top 3 firms

The three largest firms account for 69.1% of every verified payout dollar in the last 30 days, across 36 firms that paid. The Herfindahl–Hirschman index of that split is 2,052 — moderately concentrated by the standard antitrust reading.

How these numbers are produced

Continuous observation of public blockchain settlement: payouts settled through RisePay or a direct on-chain wallet transfer are read from the public ledger, attributed to the sending firm, and aggregated into rolling 24-hour, 7-day, 30-day and all-time totals as they settle. Payouts sent by bank wire, card, PayPal or a firm's internal balance are not observable on-chain and are excluded, so totals represent a verified floor rather than complete payout volume.

Individual payout records begin with the current RiseUSD era. Earlier RISEPAY payouts are included in every total and trend but are not itemized, so they cannot appear in a list of individual payouts.
